We’re over halfway through 2021, but there’re still lots of sci-fi and fantasy shows to look forward to, from Foundation to The Wheel of Time and beyond!
Fantasy and sci-fi shows are dominating the game, at this point. Long gone are the days when the word “nerd” was thrown around like it was an insult…and to those days we say, good riddance.
In 2021, the definition of what is considered “cool” has changed: only cynics and contrarians still categorically refuse to watch shows with supernatural elements. Networks know this; in fact, there is a shocking amount of fantasy and sci-fi shows premiering or coming back in the next few months. Let’s look at some of the most anticipated ones!
The Walking Dead season 11 (August 22)
Having premiered in October 2010, The Walking Dead is one of the longest-running shows currently on air. To put that into perspective, just think that it existed before Game of Thrones and that it outlasted it by three years. Alas, everything has an end, and season 11 of The Walking Dead will be its last.
The 24-episode season will start this month and end in 2022. It’ll be divided into three different blocks of episodes.
This season will introduce the Commonwealth, the biggest and most advanced civilization that our survivors have yet encountered. The series has strayed pretty far from The Walking Dead comic books by Robert Kirkman, so anything could happen.
