The Witcher season 2 (December 17)
I don’t think it would be a hyperbole to call The Witcher’s second season the most anticipated release of the year. To conclude 2021 with a bang, Netflix will be delivering eight hour-long episodes that hopefully pick up right where the show left off at the end of season 1, with monster hunter Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill) and orphan princess Ciri (Freya Allen) meeting after a long season of hardship.
I can’t wait to watch the development of their dynamic, and I’m very much looking forward to seeing them cross paths with Jaskier (Joey Batey) and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra). Despite its colossal popularity, Netflix hasn’t yet renewed The Witcher for a third season, but is working on multiple spin-offs.
The Book of Boba Fett (December)
Disney scored a hit with The Mandalorian on Disney+, but that’s only the beginning of their plans. They have a whole network of Star Wars shows planned. We already mentioned the anime-inspired Star Wars: Visions, but in December we’ll get The Book of Boba Fett, the first live-action Star Wars show outside The Mandalorian.
And indeed, this show is pretty closely related to The Mandalorian. That series reintroduced us to bounty hunter Boba Fett (Temuera Morrison), letting us get to know the man under the helmet. At the end of the second season, he and Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) ransacked Boba Fett’s palace and took over as the new leaders of his criminal empire. We assume The Book of Boba Fett will pick up there.
