See the Game of Thrones theme song played on an organ in a monastery

The Game of Thrones theme song sound perfect coming out of a pipe organ in a monastery that’s over 1000 years old.

The Game of Thrones theme song is one of the most iconic in TV history. You know how it goes: DOO-doo-doodoo-DOO-doo-doodoo-DOO-doo-doodoo-DOO-doo-doodoo…It’s been covered an uncountable number of times in lots of different ways, but I’ve never seen (or heard) it done quite like this.

Let me whisk you away to the Monastery of San Salvador de Celanova in Ourense, Spain. Established over a thousand years ago, it’s one of the oldest such monasteries in the region, and has seen a lot of history over the years. And now, its pipe organ plays the Game of Thrones song!

And I don’t mean that it toots out a couple of notes. I mean this organ plays the entire theme song, complete with little flourishes you may only notice if you’ve listened to the song way too much, like I have. Watch (and listen) below:

There’s just something so fitting about a pipe organ playing Game of Thrones music. The instrument already feels like it time traveled out of the Middle Ages. It’s just perfect.

Will the theme song for HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff House of the Dragon be as memorable? It has some massive shoes to fill.
