The Walking Dead is in its final season at AMC, but the network will soon have another spooky franchise to take its place: it’s secured the rights to Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, and is kicking things off with a show based on her classic 1976 novel Interview With The Vampire, adapted as a 1994 movie with Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise.
Pitt played Louis de Pointe du Lac, a young man feeling melancholic in New Orleans in the latter days of the 18th century. Cruise played Lestat de Lioncourt, a French vampire who seduces Louis into the world of the undead. And we do mean “seduced” — the subtext in this story is so strong it’s basically just text.
For the show, AMC has cast Australian actor Sam Reid as Lestat. And now, The Hollywood Reporter brings us the good news that Louis will be played by none other than Jacob Anderson, who Game of Thrones fans know as the stoic Grey Worm, leader of the Unsullied!
Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) is Louis de Pointe du Lac
If the show takes off, this could be huge for Anderson’s career, since Louis has a big role. Anderson has been getting a lot of work of late; he also has a recurring role in the upcoming 13th season of Doctor Who.
The Interview With The Vampire show is expected to premiere on AMC in 2022. And if the network has its way, it’ll only be the beginning.
