Star Trek: Picard brought Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) out of retirement for a new adventure across the galaxy, mixing it up with characters both new and old. That will continue in the show’s second season, which will premiere on Paramount+ sometime next year.

So what old faces will we see pop up in Star Trek: Picard season 2? We know John de Lancie is returning as the mischievous interdimensional being Q from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Now, Variety reports that another of Picard’s old enemies will show up: the Borg Queen.

The Borg Queen first showed up in 1996’s Star Trek: First Contact, where she was played by Alice Krige. Susanna Thompson played her on several episodes of Star Trek: Voyager. Now she’ll be played by Annie Wersching.

The Borg Queen presides over a hive mind of assimilated automatons, so it makes a kind of sense for her face to keep changing. We’ll find out the specifics when Star Trek: Picard season 2 premieres in 2022.

Kate Mulgrew happy to return to the role of Captain Janeway on Star Trek: Prodigy

And Picard isn’t the only new Star Trek show coming our way; far from it. This year will see the debut of Star Trek: Prodigy, an animated Trek show aimed at younger fans. Kate Mulgrew will return as Captain Kathryn Janeway, and it sounds like coming home. “Star Trek is never far from me,” Mulgrew told Den of Geek. “Janeway defined an era for me, and as it turns out, the rest of my life… I love her. When a character defines a part of her life, you are in turn greatly deeply, which I am. She has never left me and I am thrilled to be back and to be introducing this to children.”

Janeway won’t actually appear in the show “in the flesh,” so to speak; she’ll be a hologram guiding the younger characters on their journey. “She’s going to love them, whether they like it or not,” Mulgrew said.

Next. The Wheel of Time season 1 will cover parts of the third book. dark
