Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has left his days as Jon Snow behind him, but there’s no forgetting the long, hard hours he spent on the show, swinging a sword until arms went numb, getting buried under piles of bodies, getting stabbed, getting better, etc. Game of Thrones was a hard show to make and Harington was asked to do more than many.

But as it turns out, all that was just a warmup for a challenge he would undertake with costar-turned-wife Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte on the show. The two had a child just earlier this year, and it ends up that parenting is more taxing than any dragon. “Like, honestly, my back is wrecked,” he told The Weekend Australian. “I go to the gym quite a bit, but there’s something about having a child that is the most physically draining thing.”

The experience has given Harington a whole new respect for single parents. “I don’t know how you do it. Because it’s more exhausting than everything I did on Thrones.”

Kit Harington says he is a “a very, very happy, content, sober man”

Despite the hardship, Harington clarifies that becoming a dad and husband “is brilliant.” He sounds like he’s gotten to a great place. “I’m a very, very happy, content, sober man.”

You can currently catch Kit Harington in an episode of Modern Love on Amazon Prime Video.
