Private castle in Michigan goes on sale: “This is Game of Thrones Season 9”
By Dan Selcke
This Michigan house has a moat, drawbridge, portcullis, guard towers, and dungeon, and it can be yours for only…oh, that’s rather a lot.
Ever want to live in a 10,790-square-foot, 26-room castle with a moat, drawbridge, portcullis, wine cellar, library and dungeon? If you live near or are willing to move to the Detroit suburb of Rochester, Michigan and have $2.29 million lying around, you can now make your dream come true.
Oh, there’s also a 1,200-square-foot side castle that serves as a garage and workshop. There are also more modern conveniences like a Tudor-style pub, an underground grotto with a Jacuzzi, a fitness center and a billiard room, and the whole six-acre property is enclosed by a wrought iron fence and two gated towers. It’s all happening at 2009 Victoria Hill Drive. You can see the full listing here.
“This is ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 9,” Lux Partners Global representative Nicholas Asplund told local news outlet M Live. “The build quality and cost is unmatched and couldn’t be done today for under $15,000,000. The surprises are endless. It must truly be seen to be believed.”
"It’s just a straight up medieval castle. The owner had a lot of money and when he was building this home, he told the designers what he wanted and they brought in people from all over, sourcing things from across the globe. They didn’t spare any expenses. It’s super solid and massive. I mean, it’s built out of stone and steel."
The house was build over a six-year period in the ’90s, with the owner bringing in people from all over the world to construct it. “The owner had a lot of money,” indeed.
Okay, guys, we can work this out; if 500 of us get together, and we all pitch in around this much…
