Andrew Garfield: Photo of me on set of Spider-Man: No Way Home is fake
By Mia Johnson
It’s been a tricky few weeks for Andrew Garfield. While the actor has allegedly left his Spider-Man days in the past, he’s getting lots of questions about appearing in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, which sees Tom Holland’s Peter Parker explore the Marvel multiverse, where he could theoretically meet all manner of other Spider-Men. And as expected, he’s still very adamant in claiming that there’s no way he’s in this upcoming Marvel movie, despite seemingly definitive photographic proof to the contrary.
Jimmy Fallon asked Garfield about his involvement (or lack thereof) in No Way Home during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “I’m not sure of that,” Garfield responded cautiously. Between the side-eye that Fallon gives Garfield and the response from the audience, it’s hilarious that everyone seems to accept that Garfield is in the movie except Garfield himself.
Garfield even downplayed the leaked photo. “What are you talking about?” But later in the clip, he claims that he has see the leaked photo. “I heard about it. And I did see it. And it’s a Photoshop.” Cue another hilarious reaction from the audience.
Andrew Garfield denies Spider-Man leaks
As one commenter on the Marvel Studios Leaks subreddit noted, there’s “4k Ultra HD videos of him on set.” It’s not just one photo out there; the evidence against Garfield is stacking up. But still, his response is understandable. We can’t go having one of Marvel’s best kept-secrets being revealed to everyone all because of a little leak… or can we?
In the interview, Garfield was able to change the subject a bit by talking about his appreciation for Tom Holland, his Spider-Man successor. “I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I’m just super stoked.”
Perhaps the follow-up question should have been, “And how did you enjoy working with Tom Holland on set?”
