Fans of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD have wondered if actress Chloe Bennet would ever find her way back to the MCU. But Bennet’s got some bad news. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening anytime soon. At least, her character Daisy Johnson (Quake), won’t be coming back for Marvel’s Secret Invasion.
According to SyFy Wire, the actress revealed this on her Instagram Story recently, sharing a long video opening up about the recent rumors surrounding her character. With the history of her character Quake in Marvel Comics, it opened up the possibility of Bennet returning to the MCU via Secret Invasion. But according to Bennet, that’s not going to happen.
She revealed on Instagram:
"I am in no way attached or involved — even at all or a little bit — in the Secret Invasion Marvel [series]. I honestly don’t even know really what that is. I am only coming on here to say this because it’s gotten to the point where every day, I’m getting hundreds of messages about this … I’m now getting approached in person."
Apparently, Bennet was also approached by a fan at Target, who was also asking about the rumors. The fan interaction, according to her, was “a little inappropriate” and was another reason why Bennet felt the need to address the rumors. She revealed she was hoping the rumors would eventually go away. But with such persistence from the fans, she had to come clean and address the rumors herself.
Secret Invasion cast
Marvel had already announced part of the cast for Disney+’s Secret Invasion. Among the cast is Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke. Samuel L. Jackson will reprise his role as Nick Fury. And Olivia Colman will also be featured in one of the roles, among many others.
Of course, it would have been nice to see Bennet welcomed back in the Marvel universe. And the actress even expressed that she felt really bad for getting fans’ hopes up. But Marvel TV itself is going through quite an interesting time, and because of that, it doesn’t necessarily guarantee that her character could come back.
Recently, James Gunn stated that all Marvel TV shows prior to WandaVision are no longer canon. And that puts Agents of SHIELD in a tough spot. Marvel Studios still has the power to bring a few elements (if not everything) back into the canon, though. So if we see Charlie Cox as Daredevil in Spider-Man: No Way Home, for example, that’d be a good indicator that the MCU is willing to honor its television past.
