In 2001, Elijah Wood appeared on screen as the friendly little hobbit named Frodo in The Lord of the Rings. Wood might not have known it back then, but it would become his most iconic role to date.
The actor reprised the role once more in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers in 2002, and he closed the series off in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. He returned as Frodo in a cameo in The Hobbit movies and even voiced him in two Lord of the Rings video games. Without a doubt, the role had a lasting impact on his career, and now some fans even see him as the definitive Frodo Baggins.
But naturally, Wood has many other acting credits to his name. Of course, nothing can come close to how monumental The Lord of the Rings was. But perhaps you’re curious to find out what else Wood did after that. (No, he did not quit acting!) Or maybe you need some recommendations on what to watch because you love Elijah Wood as an actor. Then read on to see some of what Elijah Wood has done since The Lord of the Rings.
What is Elijah Wood in?
Since The Lord of the Rings, one of Elijah Woods’ more prominent roles was in the television series Wilfred, which ran from 2011 to 2014. Wood plays ex-lawyer Ryan Newman, the owner of a foul-mouthed “dog” who’s played by Jason Gann dressed in a ridiculously hilarious dog costume.
In the animated realm, Wood has had two prominent voice roles. The first was the TV mini-series Over the Garden Wall, which premiered in 2014 on Cartoon Network. He voiced one of the main characters, Wirt. Wood also had a role in Disney XD’s Star Wars Resistance, an animated series that took place during Star Wars‘ sequel trilogy timeline. He voiced the character of Jace Rucklin from 2018 to 2020.
Wood has a really long, diverse career that stretches back as far as 1989. This year, 2021, he starred in the crime film No Man of God. And currently he’s filming the movie The Toxic Avenger, which stars Kevin Bacon, Jacob Tremblay, and Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage.
