Star Wars: We’ll see some “familiar faces” in Andor on Disney+

Andor is one of many Star Wars TV series coming to Disney+ over the next couple of years. This one is about Cassian Andor, the reluctant freedom fighter played by Diego Luna in 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. And according to Luna himself, Andor isn’t the only character from that movie coming back.

“You’ll definitely see familiar faces,” Luna told Deadline. “I can tell you about this project like no other because I can’t spoil the ending if you’ve seen already. No matter what I say, I can’t ruin the ending.”

Luna is referring to the end of Rogue One, where, um…everyone dies. It’s a downer of a Star Wars movie. But this one is set in happier times…back when Andor was a scoundrel who didn’t care about anybody. Maybe it’ll be bleak either way.

What Star Wars characters will appear in Andor?

Well, it seems like an absolute given that sassy droid K-2SO will be in the show, since he was a riot in the original movie, Cassian actually knew him beforehand, and because actor Alan Tudyk is in, like, every other movie and TV show; I suspect he just starts every phone call he gets by saying “yes.” Another good bet is that Forest Whitaker will reprising his role as Rebel extremist Saw Gerrera.

“To be honest, it’s been such a blessing to do this job and to do it under these circumstances,” Luna continued. “I had the chance to work with a team that I couldn’t be more proud of and admire more. It’s a hard-core moment to be out there shooting, and we were really lucky. We’re done with the shooting now and getting it ready for audiences to see it.”

"While I can’t say much, what I can tell you is that the experience was literally a transformation for me. It’s something that I really wanted to do and that I thought I was not going to be able to do. I’m more than happy."

There’s no release date for Andor as of yet, but the next Star Wars series, The Book of Boba Fett, will be coming to Disney+ in December.
