Disney reveals release date and poster for The Book of Boba Fett
By Dan Selcke
The Mandalorian has been going strong for two seasons now, but you knew Disney wouldn’t stop with only one live-action Star Wars series did you? It’s readying a whole fleet of these things, from an Obi-Wan Kenobi show to Andor to The Acolyte and well beyond.
A couple of the spinoffs were set up in the second season of The Mandalorian, including Ahsoka and The Book of Boba Fett, which will follow the infamous bounty hunter (Temuera Morrison) and the mercenary Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) as they take over the criminal empire once controlled by Jabba the Hutt. We saw the start of that in an after-credits sequence at the end of The Mandalorian season 2. And we’ll see it continue starting December 29, which is when the premiere episode will drop on Disney+.
That’s according to a nifty poster Disney just dropped. Take a look:
You come at the King, you best not miss…in space!
Disney explodes the Star Wars Cinematic Universe
Disney already started to grow its crop of Star Wars show with animated series like The Bad Batch and Star Wars: Visions, but as the first live-action Star Wars show after The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett has extra pressure on it to do well. Were people just interested in the adventures of Din Djarin and Baby Yoda in The Mandalorian, or are they ready for the vast, interconnected network of shows Disney wants to give them?
We’ll find out starting December 29.
