A decade ago, Kingkiller Chronicle author Patrick Rothfuss outlined what was going to happen in The Doors of Stone. It’s still just as true today.
As has been well-chronicled across the internet, fantasy author Patrick Rothfuss still has not published The Doors of Stone, the third and presumably final book in his Kingkiller Chronicle series. This is despite the second book — The Wise Man’s Fear — having come out way back in 2011. Fans have been waiting for a while.
Any information we can get about the book is interesting, even if it’s 10 years old. And since the book still has no release date, what he said about the book a decade ago remains just as relevant today.
That brings us to a clip recorded at Worldcon 2011, not long after The Wise Man’s Fear hit bookshelves. Looking into the future, Rothfuss discussed what we can expect from The Doors of Stone:
"You can expect more of the same. You will see awesome stuff. Obviously, Kvothe is going to travel more. Obviously, we learn more about what has kind of led his life to where he is now. You see more of Kvothe and Bast’s relationship, how it began. And some of the choices and the things in his life that have led him down this particular path."
And hopefully we get a bit where he kills a king?
Given that some fans think we’ll never get the third book, perhaps this is all they think we’ll get. But rest assured, Rothfuss is writing The Doors of Stone. He occasionally shares some interesting tidbits over on his Twitch page, so it’s always worth a look.
