There’s a big, big Marvel rumor that’s come down the line recently. And of course, while we take every rumor with a grain of salt, we’re sure many fans are going to be delighted if this one turns out to be true.
Over the weekend, “Daredevil” began trending on Twitter as one of the top keywords. And the top spot was rightly deserved because all the internet was abuzz over the possible return of Daredevil to the MCU.
This definitely isn’t anything official, as neither Marvel Studios nor Disney have announced the return of the character themselves. But scooper Daniel Richtman has revealed on his Patreon that most of the cast of Daredevil, which starred Charlie Cox in the title role and ran on Netflix for three seasons before getting cancelled along with the rest of the streamer’s Marvel lineup, will be returning for Echo, an upcoming Disney+ spinoff of Hawkeye (yes, Disney is already planning a spinoff of a show that hasn’t come out yet). There was even a claim that Echo would feel like Daredevil season 4 on account of all the returning actors. This would include Cox as Daredevil/Matt Murdoch, while other reports have it that Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) and other regulars would reprise their roles as well.
However, since then, the rumor has taken on a life of its own, with some now saying that there could straight-up be a season 4 of Daredevil. And because of that, the Patreon report was updated to clarify that there would not be a new Daredevil season or series. But the number of Daredevil characters in the Echo series would certainly make it feel that way.
Daredevil’s Marvel return?
We can neither confirm nor deny that Charlie Cox or any of the Daredevil characters will be returning to the MCU, in Echo or otherwise. Some fans have believed that Cox will appear as soon as December’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, but the actor has been adamant that he’s not in it.
Then again, plenty of folks have denied they appear in that movie only for them to be proven liars as new teasers drop. And these rumors have been brewing for a while now, with other so-called-scoopers out there claiming that Charlie Cox and others from the cast will be brought back into the MCU in some capacity.
Because there are so many Daredevil fans who were heartbroken when the show was canceled, I think the people behind the #SaveDaredevil movement have a strong chance of seeing their beloved series get some kind of revival in the future.
