If you’ve been missing Peacemaker since you last saw him in DC Comic’s The Suicide Squad, don’t worry, because the violent antihero will be back soon. And to get us excited for his new upcoming spinoff series, HBO Max released a first-look clip today.

The clip is just about a minute long, but it’s absolutely hilarious. It’s exactly what you’d expect from a series that was written by James Gunn, the mastermind behind Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

In this video, we start off seeing two familiar faces: Economos (Steve Agee) and Harcourt (Jennifer Holland). They’re sitting with newcomers Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji) and Adebayo (Danielle Brooks), who have arranged a meeting with none other than Peacemaker himself. Hilarity ensues as the titular character arrives at the Italian restaurant where they’ve chosen to meet… in full costume. But that’s just the kind of thing we can expect from John Cena’s character, down to his hideous striped car and bald eagle in his back seat.

You can watch the clip for yourself below:

Peacemaker release date

Unfortunately, the teaser doesn’t give us a release date for the Peacemaker series. But it does remind us that the show is coming in January of 2022, so it’ll be a fun way to kick off the new year.

And DC FanDome is right around the corner, which means we can expect to learn a lot about the series very soon. On October 16, Peacemaker will be one of the television shows profiled in the upcoming event, and so a full release date may be revealed then.

John Cena, James Gunn and more will be taking part in this virtual event. And luckily, it’s free for everyone to watch. So there should be plenty of awesome updates in store for all things DC.
