Of course Kathryn Hahn (Agatha) is getting her own WandaVision spinoff

Let it never be said that Disney doesn’t know how to capitalize on a good thing. WandaVision was the first of several Marvel TV series currently being rolled out on Disney+, and it’s still probably the best. One of the highlights was Kathryn’s performance as Agatha Harkness, Wanda’s nosy neighbor who ended up having a much more sinister agenda. She even had a song about it, if you’ll recall.

Now, Variety reports that Disney is working on a WandaVision spinoff with Hahn at the center. We don’t have a title or a release date, but the show is said to be a “dark comedy,” which sounds about right. Considering that Agatha survived the Salam witch trials, she has a long past for Marvel to mine. Or they could go forward and show us what happened to Agatha after the end of WandaVision.

WandaVision head writer Jac Schaeffer will serve as writer and executive producer on the new show.

The Agatha Harkness show means Marvel is making over a dozen Disney+ series

Kathryn Hahn is certainly talented enough to hold down her own show, and it’s cool to see her blowing up so much recently; in addition to this, she’ll also be appearing in Knives Out 2 and playing the lead role in an upcoming Showtime limited series about Joan Rivers.

My only concern here is just how many Marvel series are piling up on Disney+. What If…? just wrapped its first season, and there’s still Hawkeye to go before the year is out. Then we’ve got Ms. MarvelShe-HulkSecret InvasionMoon KnightIronheartArmor Wars, Echo, a show set in Wakanda, more seasons of Loki and What If…? And now this. How much time does Disney think I have?

But still, this is one of the more promising of the 30,000 Marvel shows on the horizon.
