HBO’s House of the Dragon arrives in 2022, and the Game of Thrones prequel will chronicle yet another fight for the Iron Throne. This time, the feud is between family members. The show will cover the “Dance of Dragons,” an event from George R.R. Martin’s extensive history of Westeros, which pitted two Targaryen heirs against one another.

Although King Viserys I (Paddy Considine) initially named Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy) his successor, his second wife believed one of her children should sit on the throne instead. Upon his death, Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) made a play to crown Prince Aegon. Naturally, the situation sparked division among the Targaryen family and those living in their kingdom.

With that setup in mind, House of the Dragon will see a lot of political scheming — maybe even more than the original Game of Thrones.

It’s unclear how Alicent Hightower’s quest for power will play out in the new show. However, the actress who plays the younger version of her character recently found herself sitting on the Iron Throne — in Leicester Square.

Emily Carey posted a photo of herself lounging on the coveted seat on Twitter, writing, “Found this chair in Leicester Square (wearing green was coincidental).”

The statue is part of Leicester Square’s “Scenes in the Square” trail, and it’s the perfect place for Game of Thrones fans to snap a photo. Clearly, Carey counts herself among that group — and she looks right at home on the Iron Throne.

It’ll be exciting to see what she brings to House of the Dragon when the highly anticipated series arrives next year. It’s nice to see the stars are about as excited as the fans are.
