How did Kit Harington and Rose Leslie meet?

Game of Thrones alums Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Rose Leslie (Ygritte) met and fell in love while filming the series together, and since married and had a child. The world loves these kinds of fairytale romances.

Harington and Leslie’s love story began in 2012 when Leslie joined Game of Thrones as Ygritte, one of the wildling women following Mance Rayder. Eventually, Jon Snow succumbs to his desires for Ygritte and the two do the dirty in season 3. It was an O-M-G moment for everyone, and we happy to discover that the on-screen romance was manifesting into a real-life love.

Back in 2016, Harington spoke with Vogue about how his and Leslie’s love story began during the second season of Game of Thrones in Iceland. I’m fairly certain people all over the world melted into a giant puddle of mush after reading what he had to say. “The country is beautiful, because the Northern Lights are magical, and because it was there that I fell in love,” Harington said. “If you’re already attracted to someone, and then they play your love interest in the show, it becomes very easy to fall in love.”

You may not know anything Jon Snow, but you sure do know how to make a heart melt.

Kit Harington and Rose Leslie’s engagement and marriage

After a ridiculously romantic proposal, the couple got engaged in 2017 with a very cute announcement in The Times of London. It all sounds so regal, doesn’t it?

On June 23, 2018, Kit Harington and Rose Leslie celebrated their nuptials on the grounds of Wardhill Castle in Aberdeenshire, which is owned by Leslie’s family (is she royalty too?!) following a ceremony which took place at a village church, Kirkton of Rayne in Scotland. It was a beautiful event with their fellow Game of Thrones costars in attendance.

Since getting married in 2018, the couple have become parents to a baby boy. And this is all while acting in television and movies; Harington starred in an episode of Amazon’s Modern Love and is in the upcoming Marvel movie Eternals, while Leslie had a stint on The Good Fight.

This couple knows how to do it all, but it’s still wild(ling) to think they have Game of Thrones to thank for their start!
