Outlander: Fraser’s Ridge will begin to “disintegrate” in season 6

Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) sounded as possible in the new teaser for Outlander season 6 that premiered over the weekend at New York Comic Con. Standing next to Jamie (Sam Heughan), Claire declared that the war is almost here as dark clouds descended over their home, Fraser’s Ridge.

The American Revolutionary War is on the horizon for the Frasers, and that’s just one of many dilemmas they’ll face. Season 5 ended with Jamie saving Claire after a violent sexual assault. And while she may be in a safe place now, Claire’s recovery is far from over.

During the NYCC panel, Heughan told the audience that there are tough times ahead for our favorite characters. “I think Jamie and Claire have spent a lot of time building this community [at Fraser’s Ridge] and I think this is the season where we really see that disintegrate.”

That much is clear from the teaser trailer, which shows us people hammering in signs that read “Refuse British Goods.” Considering Jamie was working with the British crown and the land Fraser’s Ridge is built on was given to him by the British, it doesn’t bode well for their home.

Outlander season 6 will bring hard times to Fraser’s Ridge

“Yeah, Jamie went to save Claire, but I think, obviously, she hasn’t gotten over that trauma, and I think Jamie is very aware of it,” Heughan said. “He’s keeping an eye on her, and I think these cracks are really starting to show — not only for Jamie and Claire but for the rest of the inhabitants of Fraser’s Ridge. The war is coming.”

On top of that, we know that Outlander is getting three new characters, including Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones), one of the prisoners Jamie was locked up with in Ardsmuir back in Scotland. Tom is bringing along his daughter and son to settle down in Fraser’s Ridge, which will cause a lot of drama.

“We have this family, the Christies, that arrive at the Ridge, and they initially are integrated into the new community, but very soon we start to see a lot of the history that’s between Tom and Jamie really get under the skin of everyone,” Heughan said. “And it starts to sort of disintegrate or decay what Claire and Jamie have built at Fraser’s Ridge.”

That doesn’t sound pleasant at all, although Heughan reassured fans that it won’t all be bad and that the Christie family will become characters we love to hate. Is this going to be another Blackjack Randall situation? Because I’m still fuming with hatred for him all these years later.

It’s unclear how everything is going to come together, so it looks like we’ll have to hang tight until early 2022 to see how all this drama plays out. Side note: They had a huge panel at NYCC and couldn’t give us a premiere date? What’s up with that Outlander?
