Stephen King adaptations streaming on Netflix
By WiC Staff
October is the time to curl up in front of the TV and watch a scary movie, and no one does scary like Stephen King. How much of his catalog is on Netflix?
For a guy whose every book is turned into a movie or TV show, there are surprisingly few Stephen King adaptations to watch on Netflix, and pretty much none of the big ones. If you were hoping to open up Netflix and watch Carrie, The Shining or IT, you’re out of luck.
But there still some stuff available on Netflix. If you’re looking for Stephen King horror, here are your options:
Stream Stephen King’s In the Tall Grass on Netflix
A pair of siblings stumble upon a strange stretch of grass with supernatural properties. To say anything more would be to spoil this eerie tale.
Stream Stephen King’s 1922 on Netflix
1922 is one of King’s less overtly supernatural stories, although it’s still plenty creepy. It’s about a father who cajoles his son to help murder his wife, the boy’s mother, to prevent her from selling the family farm and moving them all out of the state. Most of the story takes place after the murder, as father and son are haunted by what they’ve done, with disastrous consequences.
Stream Stephen King’s The Mist on Netflix
Spike adapted King’s novel about an otherworldly mist that envelopes a Maine town as a TV show back in 2017. It only ran one season, which is available to watch in full on Netflix.
Stream Stephen King’s Gerald’s Game on Netflix
Perhaps the most acclaimed Stephen King adaptation on Netflix, Gerald’s Game is about a couple who try to reignite their romance by getting a little kinky. It starts out fun, but then things take a turn…
Happy Halloween (month)!
