It’s been too long since we’ve seen the thirteenth Doctor in Doctor Who, and now her golden season (the thirteenth season, that is) is upon us.
The last we saw her, it was a very bittersweet moment for the Doctor. After facing time in the galactic prison, her companions had to come to terms with what it was like to be without the Doctor. For Yaz, she became like the Doctor herself, trying to crack the mystery of what happened. For Ryan, he began to realize that their dependence on the Doctor wasn’t healthy. And for Graham, well, he was just happy to be around.
But by the end of the special episode, when the Doctor was free and they all stopped yet another terrible plot from the Daleks, Ryan realized his time was up. He was calling his days as a companion with the Doctor quits. And his grandfather Graham agreed to stay by his grandson’s side.
Now, with that special over, fans may be wondering when we’ll finally see Yaz and the Doctor back in action. The “Revolution of the Daleks” special aired in January of 2021, after all. So it means we’ve gone 10 months without seeing the Doctor and friends. Luckily, Doctor Who season 13 finally has a release date, and the series will be premiering in October 2021.
Doctor Who season 13 release date
Earlier this week, it was announced that Doctor Who season 13 will be premiering on BBC America on Sunday, October 31, 2021.
Yep, that means our Halloween plans this year will be completely dominated by the Doctor. (Well, you can participate in some Halloween activities first, then you can come back and watch the episode, no problem.)
This is a special season of Doctor Who. It will only have six episodes, and the entire season will be one long story arc. This is because of filming difficulties due to the pandemic, which caused them to shorten production on season 13. But we will get several Doctor Who specials after the season, just so Jodie Whittaker’s run as the Doctor is not cut completely short.
But all in all, it’s good we finally have a release date for the season. And this should hopefully be a good season for Chris Chibnall, who will pass the torch back to Russel T. Davies after this.
