Disney continues to build its TV empire. It already has no less than four Marvel series out, with a lot more planned. Then there’s The Mandalorian, which is set to kick off a whole Star Wars television universe.
There was movement on both fronts today. First off, Samuel L. Jackson announced to a grateful nation that production has begun on Secret Invasion, a new series that pairs him with Game of Thrones veteran Emilia Clarke:
“Time to get back in the groove,” Jackson wrote. “Happy to be back on the attack! #secretinvasion#fuckthatsnap#backwithafury.” Obviously, “F**k that snap” is about the most Samuel L. Jackson thing Samuel L. Jackson could have written.
We still don’t know a ton about Secret Invasion, but if the comics are any indication, it’ll be about the shape-shifting Skrull aliens secretly infiltrating the upper circles of power on Earth by impersonating influential people…a secret invasion, if you will. And who else can stop them but Nick Motherf**king Fury?
The Mandalorian season 3 blasts off
Meanwhile, in a galaxy far far away, The Mandalorian star Carl Weathers (Greef Karga) announced that he’s back on the set of the Star Wars spinoff:
When last we left The Mandalorian crew, Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) left with Luke Skywalker to go learn to hone his Force abilities, while Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) accidentally inherited governorship of the planet of Mandalore. Where Greef Karga fits into all this we’re not sure, but it’s comforting to know that answer are on the way.
Both Secret Invasion and The Mandalorian season 3 will be along in 2022.
