Eternals officially had its grand premiere last night, and while the formal reviews are a ways off, the impressions are in.

Let’s take a look, starting with what everyone wants to hear: unfettered praise:

A lot of people singled out director Chloé Zhao, who recently won an Oscar for Best Director for Nomadland. We’ve been wondering whether she could maintain her distinctive, naturalistic style after becoming part of the Marvel machine, and it sounds like she succeeded.

The ensemble cast — which includes Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie, Kit Harington, Kumail Nanjiani and many others — also stood out:

Eternals is like Zack Snyder’s Justice League

One of the more surprising comparisons several critics made was likening Eternals to a film from the DC Extended Universe of movies. Whether that’s a good or a bad thing depends on who you ask:

So as you can see, not everyone was head over heels for the movie, but even the criticisms were muted, like one critic who thought the exposition was a little much:

The Eternals post-credits sequences are mind-blowing

Also, critics agree that the movie’s two post-credits sequences are something else:

Marvel has kind of created an ecosystem where some fans see them just for a hint of what’s coming next. I don’t know how I feel about that, but those post-credit sequences have definitely become a tradition.

And no, we have a weird report that could constitute SPOILERS, so best step back if you don’t want to be exposed.

Harry Styles plays Thanos’ brother in Eternals?

Yep, according to Variety writer Matt Donnelly — a credible source — former One Direction member Harry Styles is in the movie. What’s more, he’s playing Eros, an Eternal and brother to Thanos. Thanos is basically an Eternal himself, that trouble-making relative the others probably only invite to family functions out of obligation.

I could definitely see being revealed in one of those post-credits scenes; that would get the crowd going. Also, I can’t imagine that Marvel boss Kevin Feige is pleased this info got out. But eh, they screened the movie.

Eternals comes out only in theaters on November 5.
