Hayden Christensen will return as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader in not one but TWO Star Wars TV shows coming to Disney+ next year.

2022 is going to be the year of Hayden Christensen. The actor is by far most famous for playing Anakin Skywalker, the man who would become Darth Vader, in the Star Wars prequel series from the early 2000s, but he’s rarely stepped back into the role after that. But next year, he’ll be playing Darth Vader again in a show all about Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor).

That show will take place after Anakin becomes Darth Vader in Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith but before menaces Luke Skywalker in A New Hope. We expect a(nother) rematch between Vader and Obi-Wan in that show.

Today, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Christensen will also reprise his role as Anakin/Vader in Ahsoka, a new show about the ex-Jedi warrior introduced in animated form in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and played in live-action form on The Mandalorian by Rosario Dawson. This show is set after Vader dies in Return of the Jedi, so the jury is out on how Christensen could turn up. Force Ghost scene, perhaps?

It makes some sense for Anakin/Vader to turn up in Ahsoka’s story, since he was her mentor back when she was a Jedi-in-training. Whatever the reason, Christensen is going to have a bang-up year back in the galaxy far, far away.
