Today, audiences in the U.S. finally get to see the first part of Denis Villeneuve’s epic film Dune, which is out in both theaters and on HBO Max. The film features some amazing landscapes and out-of-this-world scenery on the desert planet of Arrakis, aka Dune.

With Arrakis being a fictional planet and all, we can’t travel there ourselves. But with a little bit of green screen magic, late-night host and Dune fanboy Stephen Colbert was able to visit the planet and interview stars Timothée Chalamet (Paul Atreides) and Zendaya (Chani). While on “Arrakis,” the three discuss everything their histories with Dune, what it was like working with director Denis Villeneuve, and how they beat their first-day jitters on set. Watch below:

Zendaya still doesn’t know if Dune will get a sequel

“I was dreaming of working with Denis like any actor would because he’s one of the best directors out there,” Chalamet said. “I auditioned for a part in Prisoners and hadn’t gotten it. I should get over my bitterness about that! And once I heard that he was working on it…”

"it was actually another actor my age that told me about it who was also going up for it. He said, “Actually, I think this is a good one for you.” And then I had a Google Alert on it to see what the casting progression was like."

Although Dune only covers the first half of Frank Herbert’s classic 1965 novel, a second movie covering the rest is all but confirmed. We’re just waiting for Warner Bros. to make the official call.

But Colbert still asked the actors if they knew if the second half was being made. “Yo, we’re asking the same question,” Zendaya said. Their fingers are crossed, and they’re being told to keep some potential dates open if Warner Bros. moves ahead with filming the second part.

If the second movie does get made, Colbert is hoping he gets cast as the emperor. So good luck to him, Zendaya and Chalamet in hopes that this all works out.
