Batwoman fans were shocked after lead actor Ruby Rose (Kate Kane) dropped out of the show after its first season, to be replaced by Javicia Leslie. It was a big move, but until recently we didn’t have much information on why it happened. Well, an NDA must have expired or something, because that changed in a big way the other week when Rose detailed numerous allegations of misconduct on set.

Some of her allegations, which she laid out in a multi-part story on her Instagram, were leveled against her costar Dougray Scott, who played Kate’s father Jacob Kane. “Dougray hurt a female stunt double,” Rose alleged. “He yelled like a little b**** at women and was a nightmare. He left when he wanted and arrived when he wanted. He abused women and in turn, as a lead of the show, I sent an email out asking for a no yelling policy. They declined.”

According to Deadline, Rose went into further detail over the weekend: “I have too many witnesses coming forward with worse than just your anger issues,” she said. She also accused him of suing her for $10 million with help from a lawyer used by Arrowverse executive producer Greg Berlanti.

Warner Bros. refutes Roby Rose’s Batwoman allegations

Now, Warner Bros. is hitting back with a statement of its own that disputes Rose’s version of events:

"We condemn the comments made by Ruby Rose about Dougray Scott. Warner Bros. has found Mr. Scott to be a consummate professional, and never received any allegation against him of bullying, or of abusive behavior on his part. Mr. Scott was greatly respected and admired by his colleagues, and was a leader on the set. Warner Bros. Television did not pick up Ruby Rose’s option for an additional season because of multiple complaints about workplace behavior that were extensively reviewed by the studio."

Scott also gave a statement to Deadline:

"As Warner Bros. Television has stated, they decided not to exercise the option to engage Ruby for Season 2 of Batwoman based on multiple complaints about her workplace behavior. I absolutely and completely refute the defamatory and damaging claims made against me by her; they are entirely made up and never happened."

And Camrus Johnson (Luke Fox/Batwing) weighed in on Twitter:

So basically, an ugly situation is getting uglier. We’ll see where things go from here.
