Kit Harington is best known for playing Jon Snow on Game of Thrones. Now he’s joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Eternals, where he’ll play Dane Whitman, aka the Black Knight. The movie comes out only in theaters on November 5.

Ahead of the movie’s premiere, Harington has been doing a few press rounds and talking about what it’s like to be a part of the MCU. Speaking to Insider, he got to compare working with Marvel to working with HBO on Game of Thrones. The big question is: which franchise is it harder to keep secrets for?

Harington was on Game of Thrones for its entire eight-season run. That’s a long time to keep secrets pent up, and he had to keep the biggest of all: the fact that Jon Snow didn’t really die after the season 5 finale (or that he wouldn’t be dead for long, anyway). But at the same time, Marvel comes with its own secrets to keep, lest those fabled “Marvel snipers” find you.

Apparently, Harington thinks keeping secrets for Marvel is harder. “I think I learned along the way with Thrones, you know?” he said. “Like, Thrones became big as I was in it. So I learned along the way how to keep secrets. Whereas, with Marvel, I’m just entering this universe and being told there’s things I can or cannot say. So, I’m learning as I go here.”

Kit Harington isn’t the only Game of Thrones star keeping franchise secrets

Funnily enough, this interview came out just as fellow Game of Thrones alum Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) was talking about how the show prepared him for keeping secrets on Doctor Who; he’s a part of the upcoming 13th season.

We don’t know much about Anderson’s character yet, which I guess means Game of Thrones prepared him well; he has yet to spill any hard details about this upcoming season of Doctor Who. Luckily it’ll be premiering on October 31, so he doesn’t have to keep those secrets much longer.

I wonder if this is the same for Game of Thrones vet Richard Madden (Robb Stark), who stars alongside Harington in Eternals as the hero Ikaris. I’m sure it hasn’t been easy. We’ll see in the next week if they join the ranks next to notorious Marvel secret spillers like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo.

Next. The first impressions of Eternals are in. dark
