Jason Momoa got COVID at the Dune premiere
By Dan Selcke
Jason Momoa is riding high this year, between being in one of the biggest movies of 2021 with Dune and filming Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the sequel to his 2018 superhero hit.
That said, it’s a precarious year to be out and about, what with COVID-19 still spreading around the world. Momoa revealed on his Instagram Stories that he contracted the disease at the London premiere of Dune, which opened there in mid-October. “I got hit with COVID right after the premiere. There was a lot of people I met in England, and so got a lot of aloha from people,” he said. “And who knows? But either way, I’m doing fine. Thank you for all your concerns and love. And, yeah, I’m just camped out in my house.”
Other photos he posted show Momoa playing ping pong with friends, hanging out at a fire pit and snapping pictures, so I’d say he’s weathering quarantine just fine.
Jason Momoa found out he had COVID-19 on the set of Aquaman 2
According to The U.S. Sun, Momoa found out he was positive for COVID on the set of the Aquaman sequel, meaning that the producers may have to reconfigure the schedule a bit, a common hassle among movie and TV studios during the pandemic.
And that’s on top of Momoa finding it harder to pull off stunts and wirework these days. “I’m getting old, that’s what’s happening,” the 42-year-old said the other week. “I gotta get surgery, I have a hernia, I got ribs out. I’m just getting beat up.”
"I love my job and I get a little too excited. And then, you know, the age thing. I’m an aging superhero right now."
All that said, we’re sure he has some more superheroics left in him before he hangs up his cape…or fins or whatever Aquaman wears.
