Squid Game fast became a global phenomenon, smashing Netflix records in its first 28 days of streaming to become the company’s most-watched series of all time. The show follows a group of cash-strapped contestants who are offered the chance to join a competition with a potential cash prize of millions. What they don’t know, however, is that they will be competing in some classic kid’s games, and if they don’t win, they die.

The first game the contestant must play is “Red Light, Green Light,” where they’re all placed together in an arena and have to reach the other side before the timer runs out. It really sets the brutal tone for the series, with literally hundreds losing their lives in this opening game.

Squid Game costumes were everywhere this Halloween, as well as a few themed events. For instance, in Sydney, the giant, ominous-looking “Red Light, Green Light” doll was brought into the real world, allowing fans to experience the game for themselves. But don’t worry, no one was harmed in the process. Take a look:

According to PerthNow, the doll stands at a whopping 4.5 meters and weighs approximately “three tonnes,” all while being able to tilt its head and creepily utter the words “red light, green light.” The players don’t get gunned down like in the show, obviously, but do experience the horrors digitally through their phones.

Given the brutality of the show, not everyone is comfortable with this kind of thing. Many parents and even schools have banned the show, so it’s debatable whether planting a giant symbol of the series in the middle of a city for all to see is a good idea.

Unfortunately, if you live in Sydney, your chance may have passed to take part. The doll was a Halloween exclusive and has subsequently been removed. But hey, perhaps it will return next year?

Squid Game crypto scam steals millions from investors

Cryptocurrency is a strange part of the internet. There’s a different digital currency for everything, from Bitcoin to J.R.R. Token (look it up) — but some of them are complete scams. It’s always worth your while to do some extensive research before investing.

For instance, Squid Game inspired a new cryptocurrency, “SQUID.” According to Gizmodo, the coin peaked at $2,861 before plummeting to $0. This is what investors call a “rug pull,” and it saw scammers make off with $3.3 million. Yikes!

Squid Game is currently streaming on Netflix.
