Marvel went all out for Disney+ Day today, giving fans a look back at where the studio has been and some of the many places it’s going. And believe me when I say there is plenty heading our way when it comes to Marvel content on Disney+. Marvel announced a slate of all-new shows, although it didn’t give out premiere dates.

Agatha: House of Harkness is coming

To start, Disney confirmed the existence of a WandaVision spinoff all about Kathryn’s Hahn’s villainous character Agatha Harkness. Check out the poster for Agatha: House of Harkness:

WandaVision Jac Schaefer will return as head writer for the series. Not much else is known about it at this time, but rest assured, it is going to be absolutely epic!

An Echo series is coming — Will Daredevil follow?

Disney also formally announced a series based on Echo, a character to be introduced in the upcoming Hawkeye show.

Played by Native American actress Alaqua Cox, Echo, aka Maya Lopez, will be the second deaf superhero to be featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Lauren Ridloff’s character Makkari, in Eternals.

In the comics, Echo is the adopted daughter of Daredevil villain the Kingpin. Does that mean we’re going to see Vincent D’Onofrio return to the role of Kingpin as played in Netflix’s Daredevil show? I’m crossing my fingers.

The 1990s X-Men cartoon is coming back!

Anyone remember the X-Men cartoon from the ’90s? You’ll be happy to know that it will be returning as a new series on Disney Plus. Yes, the iconic series, X-Men ’97, makes its return in 2023 with all-new episodes and I CANNOT wait.

According to The Wrap, the new series will pick up where the original left off and will mark the return of the original voice actors who will reprise their roles. Some of the folks returning include Cal Dodd (Wolverine), Lenore Zann (Rogue), George Buza (Beast) and more, and there are new cast members as well.

In addition to X-Men ’97, we have two more new animated shows to look forward to: Spider-Man: Freshman Year will follow young Peter Parker on his journey to become Spider-Man. I really hope that it’s not just more of what we’ve already seen a million times already. We get it, he was bit by a radioactive spider, etc., etc. It looks like Marvel is hoping to veer away from the tale as old as time, and has promised the new show will be “a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots.”

Lastly, we’ve got Marvel Zombies, which is an animated series based on the comic and the zombie-themed episode of What If…? That was an awesome episode, so I’m pumped to see more!

On, and What If…? is getting a second season, as well:

See Oscar Isaac in Moon Knight

Disney also reminded us of several shows that had already been announced, including Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Secret Invasion and Hawkeye.

Some months back there were “leaks” of Oscar Isaac as the superhero Moon Knight, but today, we got our first *official* look, and I must say I’m floored. You can see the clip on Disney+ itself, and while we didn’t get a clear, full view of Isaac as Moon Knight, we did see a shot of him beating someone up and another of him flying across the moon in the night sky.

Marvel describes this show as a “globetrotting action-adventure series featuring a complex vigilante.” Moon Knight, aka Marc Spector, is a very complicated character in the comics who suffers from dissociative identity disorder. There is a clip in the sizzle reel of Isaac surrounded by mirrors and speaking in different accents, so it looks like they’re staying true to that aspect of the character.

See Tatiana Manslany as She-Hulk, with a special guest

Next up we’ve got She-Hulk, aka superwoman lawyer Jennifer Walters, who will be played by the marvelously talented Tatiana Maslany. A new clip gives us a look at Jennifer/She-Hulk as she dominates her daily life as a lawyer while meeting up with the Hulk himself, played by  Mark Ruffalo! “You wouldn’t like me when I’m angry,” he tells her. We know.

Marvel is calling She-Hulk a comedy series, and based on the very quick glimpse we got of it, I’d say we’re in for a lot of laughs. And we have Tim Roth’s Abomination to look forward to, who we last briefly saw in Shang-Chi earlier this year.

Watch the first footage from Ms. Marvel

And now for the show I am the MOST excited about: Ms. Marvel. As a Pakistani-American watching a clip of a Pakistani American Marvel superhero, I couldn’t contain my enthusiasm and joy. It’s such an exciting moment for my community, and for so many around the world, and I’m so excited we got our first look during Disney+ Day.

The clip shows Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani), a 16-year-old Pakistani American girl from Jersey City who is a superfan of the Avengers, especially Captain Marvel. The clips show Kamala trying to balance her life at school and the mosque while trying to make sense of her superhero costume, and donning one she made herself.

Ms. Marvel is set to premiere on Disney+ in Fall 2022.

Watch a new clip from Hawkeye

Moving on, we got an extended look at Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld (Kate Bishop). These two badass archers are coming to the small screen in just a couple of weeks and there is plenty to be excited about.

The clip shows Kate and Clint trying to get away from a gang in an intense car chase where Kate realizes that Clint’s arrows are not as basic as she assumed. I’ll admit I wasn’t that excited about this show before, but seeing all the action snippets in a Christmas setting has gotten me on board.

The first two episodes of Hawkeye debut on Disney+ on November 24.

First look at Samuel L. Jackson in Secret Invasion

Secret Invasion stars Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn as Skrull Tatos, who first teamed up in Captain Marvel. This upcoming Disney+ series follows the comics in which a group of Skrulls has infiltrated Earth.

Along with Jackson and Mendelsohn, Secret Invasion stars Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke and The Crown’s Olivia Colman, so we’ve got quite the star-studded cast. And given how big this story is in the comics, don’t be surprised if other familiar faces make an appearance.

And then there are a few shows that Marvel basically just reminded us existed:

  • The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
  • Ironheart: Dominque Thorne will star as Riri Williams, a young genius who makes her own Iron Man suit. In the comics, she takes over the mantle of Iron Man after Tony Stark falls into a coma.
  • I Am Groot: This is a series of shorts following the adventures of Baby Groot as he grows up and reaches for the stars. Stop motion director Kirsten Lepore directs.

Finally, while it’s not Marvel, Disney also released a trailer for Baymax!, a new show spun off from the movie Big Hero 6.

And that’s a wrap on Disney+ Day! At least so far as superheroes are concerned. Believe it or not, there was even more stuff to take in:

Next. Disney+ is adapting The Spiderwick Chronicles for TV. dark
