According to an earnings call with Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Disney’s Star Wars hotel is already “virtually” booked — even with its price range of $4K to $6K.
Most Star Wars fans have wondered what it might be like to live in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, and that’s something they can experience through Disney’s Star Wars hotel, the Galactic Starcruiser — assuming they’ve got a few thousand dollars to spare.
Many fans of the franchise balked at the prices for Disney’s LARP experience, which fall somewhere in the range of $4,000 and $6,000 for just two nights. However, it seems just as many were prepared to pay the price to live in their favorite science-fiction universe.
According to a FY2021 earnings call with Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Disney’s Star Wars hotel is “virtually” booked for the foreseeable future. In fact, it looks like there will be a four-month wait for anyone looking to plan a trip.
The resort doesn’t open until 2022, but if Chapek is to be believed, fans have already reserved their spots to play as their favorite Star Wars characters. And with only 100 rooms to spare, it seems the Galactic Starcruiser is already jam-packed.
That could mean it’ll be a while before prices come down — if they do at all. Clearly, some of the fandom is willing to splurge on their vacation to Walt Disney World, especially if it means an immersive experience at Galaxy’s Edge. And perhaps the rush to snatch up rooms shouldn’t come as a surprise. Although the prices weren’t so exorbitant, the hotels at Galaxy’s Edge sold out before its grand opening back in 2019 as well.
Only time will tell if the immersive experience is truly worth the hefty price tag. We’ll be hearing more about the hotel when it finally opens to the public. But for $6,000, visitors had better be going home with a real-life Baby Yoda. (If that is the case, put us on that waiting list!)
