Daredevil, the blind Marvel superhero without fear, may be inching closer to making his return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At one point, Daredevil had his own show on Netflix, where he was played by Charlie Cox. But then the relationship between Netflix and Marvel soured, leading to the cancellation of Daredevil and the rest of the Marvel-Netflix lineup. Since then, there have been endless rumors circulating regarding the character’s future. Just last month, we heard that Marvel was looking to bring Cox and other Daredevil cast members back into the fold in upcoming Marvel projects. At the time of these rumors, reports suggested Marvel was looking to bring the characters into the broader MCU via upcoming Disney+ projects.
However, a new rumor suggests that Marvel has even bigger plans in place for the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
Is a Daredevil reboot happening?
Everyone wants to know whether Charlie Cox might make a brief appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home or on another Disney+ MCU series such as She-Hulk, but a new rumor from industry insider Daniel RPK suggests Marvel is currently working on a separate Daredevil project!
In a recent tweet, Daniel RPK shared a screenshot of what appears to be a talent grid for an upcoming Daredevil project from Marvel Studios. While the grid doesn’t contain any casting information or the names of any production members, it does seem to indicate that Marvel Studios is working on a new Daredevil project of some sort, be it a movie or revival of the Netflix series.
Although it’s uncertain what the project might be, we know that Marvel is once again in full control of the rights to Daredevil now that its multi-year deal with Netflix has come to an end. As a result, Marvel Studios is now free to utilize the characters onscreen and bring the actors who originated the roles into the fold if they choose.
Are we looking at a potential fourth season of the Netflix Daredevil show? A Daredevil movie? Maybe the actors will play their Daredevil characters in other Marvel projects, or maybe Disney is wants to start from scratch with an entirely new Daredevil series. Whatever happens, the odds of Daredevil returning to the MCU look better with each passing day.
