The trailer for Marvel’s Sony’s latest superhero tentpole piece is here: Spider-Man: No Way Home brings back Tom Holland in the role of your friendly neighborhood web-slinger, recently outed as Peter Parker and desperate to go back to some kind of normalcy. He hits up his MCU comrade Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberatch) to cast a spell to make everyone forget his secret identity. Zip zap zop and the whole multiverse is out of whack.

Just how out of whack? Watch the new trailer below:

That’s a pretty prominent Scooby-Doo reference. Surely between Disney and Sony they own Scooby-Doo, so it’s gotta be fine.

Are Andrew Garfield or Tobey Maguire in the trailer for Spider-Man: No Way Home?

In fact, references are the name of the game is this movie, which is a celebration of the last 20 years of Spider-Man on film. With the multiverse torn asunder by Strange’s spell, villains from past movies are invading Spidey’s universe, including Electro (Jamie Foxx), the Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe) and Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina), who looks to have a pretty big part.

But what about other Spider-Men? It’s basically an open secret at this point that past Peter Parkers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will turn up in the movie at some point, but Sony and Marvel are keeping that under their hats for now.

Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out in movie theaters (“exclusively” in movie theaters, as the trailer helpfully points out) on December 17.
