If you haven’t been watching the TV series Chucky, then you are missing out. I honestly feel like it has been one of the best surprises of 2021.

Of course, I say this as a horror movie aficionado. I’ve watched every horror movie franchise there is, and Chucky has always been near the top of my list of favorites.

Going into this series I wasn’t sure if it would translate well, but boy, did they did manage to impress me. Within its first season, the series has managed to spark nostalgia, create its own story, and capture audiences with the hilarity and terror of the world’s most infamous serial killer doll.

Chucky will be back!

As we head into the season 1 finale this week, I am thrilled to report that Chucky has been renewed for a second season. According to the official press release, Chucky and Resident Evil are the top two new cable series of 2021 in the 18-49 demo. Chucky has reached 9.5 million viewers across all platforms.

This comes as no surprise to me at all because I’ve been watching the series and loving it. Chucky is still the evil, murderous doll we remember, and whoever is writing his dialogue and doing the visual effects deserves some recognition! I think they’ve somehow managed to make him funnier than ever before!

Executive producer Don Mancini talks about the renewal. “We’re thrilled to start pulling the strings on a second season of puppet mayhem with ‘Chucky,’” he said. “Many thanks to our partners at USA, SYFY, and UCP for their incredible support and guidance bringing ‘Chucky’ to the small screen, bigger than ever. And to the fans, Chucky sends his still-undying thanks and a message: ‘This isn’t over, not by a long shot. You better watch your backs in 2022!’”

The season 1 finale of Chucky airs on Tuesday, November 30 at 10:00 p.m. EST. And just in case you’ve missed the series, it’ll be available to stream on Peacock starting December 1.
