The sixth (and final?) season of The Expanse is almost upon us. Will it be a fitting end to this science fiction show that has gone through so many changes on its way to a finale? Or will it disappoint? And is it the end, really?

The fifth season of The Expanse left off with terrorist Marcos Inaros unleashing a swarm of meteorites on the Earth, once again inflaming tensions between Earth, Mars and those living in the asteroid belt. The season is based on the sixth book in The Expanse series by James S.A. Corey, Babylon’s Ashes.

The intriguing thing is that there are three more books after that. Is there a chance they could ever be adapted? Producer Ty Franck has said that producer Alcon Television Group is “very committed to the IP,” so it’s possible the show could be revived somewhere down the line. It’s happened before: The Expanse ran on SyFy for three seasons before jumping to Amazon Prime Video for seasons 4, 5 and now 6.

When does The Expanse season 6 premiere on Amazon Prime Video?

Whatever happens with The Expanse, at least you won’t have to wait much longer to begin watching it. The series will return for season 6 on December 10 on Amazon Prime.

Next. After backlash, Star Trek: Discovery now available around the world. dark
