Jaws: The Revenge

Here’s another movie you could argue whether is really a holiday film, much like Die Hard. But there are festive elements in this Jaws sequel that make it a good fit for our list. It oozes the holiday spirit…along with blood, of course.

The movie begins just a few days before Christmas in the town of Amity, where holiday celebrations are in full swing. Much like Batman Returns, the Christmas spirit is running through the town, with carolers and decorations all over the place.

But don’t let that holiday joy fool you. It’s just a cover for the bloody horror that follows, thanks to a Great White Shark lurking in the waters. This sequel does a good job of going back and forth between the terrifying reality Amity is facing and the holidays. In many ways, it feels like a Hallmark movie that goes wrong. There’s this happy feeling which is juxtaposed with the realization that people are dying thanks to a psycho shark.

In many ways, it’s as scary as a movie taking place during the holidays can get. And for that reason we simply couldn’t leave it off this list!

You can stream/buy/rent Jaws: The Revenge on various platforms.

And that’s a wrap on our list of scary Christmas movies to watch this holiday season! Whether you’re watching Santa’s Slay or Batman Returns, we hope you enjoy these holiday horrors as you sip on eggnog and cover your eyes with your free hand.

Happy holidays!
