Tomorrow’s new episode of The Wheel of Time, “The Flame of Tar Valon,” is the best one yet. Check out some spiffy new images from it!

The Wheel of Time rolls on with “The Flame of Tar Valon,” the sixth episode of Amazon’s series. And although I can’t give that much away, I can say that this was the last episode Amazon made available to critics, and for my money it was easily the best.

What makes it so good? You’ll have to wait until tomorrow for that. In the meantime, here are some nifty new images:

“The Flame of Tar Valon” introduces us to Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat; she’s the leader of the Aes Sedai. The episode opens with a flashback to her youth as a fisherman’s daughter.

Grown up and now played by Sophie Okonedo, Siuan is a force to be reckoned and makes a memorable impression.

Of course, Siuan isn’t the only Aes Sedai in the building. The hard-edged Liandrin continues to try and cause trouble for our main characters.

The Aes Sedai have successfully brought the False Dragon Logain Ablar to Tar Valon to face justice. He doesn’t look very happy, does he?

One of the reasons this episode is so good is because it’s a Aes Sedai fest. Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) gets a lot of screen time this week, and the show is the better for it.

Of all the kids from Emond’s Field, Egwene is probably the one who’s most comfortable with Moiraine.

Perrin is still recovering from his encounter with the Whitecloaks from the last episode. At least the main characters are mostly back in the same location again.

The Wheel of Time introduced Loial the Ogier last week, and now he mixes it up with Moiraine and Lan.

The episode ends at a Waygate, which readers of Robert Jordan’s books will know well. For the rest of you, things are about to get crazy.

I genuinely enjoyed “The Flame of Tar Valon” and am looking forward to seeing how it goes over. The show has been pretty good to me so far, but not great. This is as close as it’s come, which is very exciting.

“The Flame of Tar Valon” drops on Amazon Prime Video on Friday.
