Batman’s son teams up with the children of Gotham City criminals (Bob Ivy? Kelly Cobblepot?) to clear their names in The CW’s new Gotham Knights series.

The Arrowverse is growing yet again. Deadline reports that Berlanti Productions, the company behind series like Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl, is working on a show called Gotham Knights, which will bring Batman into this shared television universe…kind of.

In this new series, Batman is dead. Batman’s rebellious adopted son has been framed for his murder, together with the children of several of Gotham’s biggest criminals. They team up and attempt to clear their names while Gotham City, stripped of its biggest protector, descends into chaos.

Batman has had a lot of “sons” over the years, and it’s unclear who this one is. At one point or another in the comics, Dick Greyson, Jason Todd and Tim Drake have all played the part of Robin, and are mentored by Bruce Wayne. He also has a biological son in Damian Wayne. Any of them could be the central character, or maybe it’s someone new.

As for the children of Gotham villains, I don’t know if they exist in the comics, but the possibilities are fun. Wanna meet Poison Ivy’s son Bob Ivy? How about the Penguin’s daughter Kelly Cobblepot? Two-Face’s kid One-Face? I would have way too much fun with this in the writer’s room.

Gotham Knights is being put together by Batwoman producers Chad Fiveash, James Stoteraux and Natalie Abrams. There’s no release date yet but if everything goes smoothly we could see it sometime in 2022.
