Lennie James (Morgan) is hoping the super-fast zombies seen in the post-credit scene of The Walking Dead: World Beyond series finale will make their way into Fear The Walking Dead. It was quite a shocker to see not only a new species of zombie, but see one on the other side of the world!

In this post-credits scene, we see a French doctor (Carey Van Driest) watching old videos of Dr. Edwin Jenner (Noah Emmerich), who we met way back in the first season of The Walking Dead! The scene doesn’t tell us everything, but what we do hear is the scientist talking about super-fast zombies that have been seen overseas, and could be man-made.

They haven’t made their way to the United States yet, but it’s only a matter of time before they do. And given that the flagship series is wrapping up next year and World Beyond has already ended, perhaps these crazy fast zombies will show up on Fear The Walking Dead.

Will Fear The Walking Dead feature the new, fast zombies?

That is a question we don’t know the answer to yet, but James is “really looking forward” to it. “I can’t wait!” he said on Talking Dead. “I’m like, ‘Bring it on.’ I’ve been waiting for walkers to catch up for years. I stand there, wait for them to come, stick a stick out, wait for another one to come, back in the head. I want them running at me so I can swing and take them all out at speed.”

Fear The Walking Dead is set a few years before The Walking Dead and World Beyond, which could complicate things. Unless there’s a time jump (which is very possible), we may not be seeing these wild zombies for a while.

According to The Walking Dead chief content officer Scott M. Gimple, we will be learning more about all this in the months to come. “The coda after World Beyond had everything to do with the past and future of The Walking Dead Universe,” he said. “There is another big story that will be told relating to that scene, and we can’t wait to start showing it to the world. The universe is unfolding… This is a big story, and in some ways, it’s hopefully just starting.”

Oh, and he added that the story is “going to go some places and with some people you’d never expect.”

Whether that means these new variants of zombies are going to take over the world or if the franchise is taking things international is yet to be seen, but it’s a very invigorating direction for the franchise.

Fear The Walking Dead returns for the second half of season 7 on April 17, 2022, on AMC!
