The Witcher: Blood Origin is a prequel series set hundreds of years before the original show. Watch the first teaser trailer.

The second season of The Witcher comes out today on Netflix, but if the streamer has its way, this is just the beginning. They’ve already put out a Witcher anime movie and are even working on a kid’s show, not to mention the prequel series Blood Origin.

We should see Blood Origin next year, and Netflix is already getting the word out. They just released a little teaser for the logo:

There’s also a proper teaser trailer showing off cast members like Michelle Yeoh and Laurence O’Fuarain:

"The Witcher: Blood Origin – Official Teaser from witcher"

The Witcher: Blood Origin is set 1,000 years before the original Witcher series and chronicles an event known as the Conjunction of the Spheres, where the worlds of man, elves and monsters were yoked together, leaving the Continent in the state it’s in now.

Yeoh, who’s made a name for herself in stuff like Couching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Star Trek: Discovery, plays Scían, the last of her nomadic tribe of sword-elves. When she gets the chance to retrieve a stolen sword sacred to her people, she goes on a deadly quest that will change the Continent. The series will also show us the creation of the first Witcher.

Netflix is going really hard on The Witcher franchise. Season 2 has reviewed better than season 1, which already amassed a fan base. We’ll see how far they can ride this train.

Next. The Witcher season 2 is different from season 1, but in a good way. dark
