House of the Dragon is IMDb’s most anticipated show of 2022

The most anticipated shows of 2022 are almost all in the sci-fi, fantasy and superhero genres. It’s gonna be a good year!

2022 is going to be chock-o-block with big new shows, from The Sandman on Netflix to an Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney+ to Amazon’s big Lord of the Rings series. But if you want to talk about a real return of the king, we’re also going to get House of the Dragon, HBO’s follow-up to Game of Thrones.

House of the Dragon is set some 200 years before the story we know. It tells the story of a brutal Targaryen civil war that tore Westeros apart; we’re talking knives in the dark, dragon-on-dragon battles, and a sprawling cast of characters all vying for power.

I know the ending of Game of Thrones left a lot of fans wanting, but it was the biggest show in the world for a long time and I think it left people wanting more. IMDb seems to agree with me, since it put House of the Dragon at the top of its list of most anticipated shows for 2022:

  1. House of the Dragon
  2. The Lord of the Rings
  3. Pam & Tommy
  4. The Sandman
  5. The Last of Us
  6. Obi-Wan Kenobi
  7. She-Hulk
  8. Ms. Marvel
  9. Peacemaker
  10. Moon Knight

Granted, I don’t know how this list was put together; like, is this based off user opinion, or just wha the people who run IMDb think? Whatever; House of the Dragon is on top and it should be.

Also, it’s good to see so many fantasy, sci-fi and superhero shows on there. The only one that isn’t a genre series is Pam & Tommy, Hulu’s show about Pamela Anderson (Lily James) and Tommy Lee’s (Sebastian Stan) leaked honeymoon sex tape. I also like seeing pure fantasy stuff like House of the Dragon and The Lord of the Rings right at the top of the list.

It’s gonna be a good year.
