First, The Mandalorian took the world by storm, what with its down-to-earth take on the Star Wars universe and its adorable little green mascot in the form of Baby Yoda. The spinoff series The Book of Boba Fett may not quite have the same cute factor going for it, but still brings plenty to the party.
Calling The Book of Boba Fett a spinoff of The Mandalorian is a little odd, since the character of Boba Fett was round long before Din Djarin and company graced our screens. But George Lucas never intended for the faceless bounty hunter to become an icon; if he did, he wouldn’t have killed him off unceremoniously in 1983’s Return of the Jedi.
This new version of Boba Fett is played by Temuera Morrison, who played Boba’s clone-father Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequel series. He was reintroduced on The Mandalorian, and now he’s taken over Jabba the Hutt’s old criminal empire with the help of fellow bounty hunter Fennec Shand. This is their story.
Where can I watch The Book of Boba Fett?
The first episode of The Book of Boba Fett premieres today, Wednesday December 29, on Disney+. That will be the exclusive place you can find it. Disney has plans for tons of Star Wars, all of them airing on its proprietary streaming service.
The Book of Boba Fett has seven episodes in all. Let’s see where Boba’s new journey takes him…and let’s hear how he survived the Sarlacc Pit from Return of the Jedi. They definitely owe us that one.
