At the end of the year, The Witcher is the world’s most in-demand show
By Dan Selcke
December has been a month for TV. The Witcher, Hawkeye, The Wheel of Time, The Book of Boba Fett, Star Trek: Discovery, Doctor Who…it’s like the networks saved all of their biggest guns for these 31 days.
But what shows have people buzzing the most? That’s where Parrot Analytics comes in. This company measures how in demand a show or movie is by looking at how often it’s talked about on social media. Game of Thrones used to dominate these rankings back in the day — we all remember how much buzz it generated whenever a new season came out — but now that it’s two years gone, what has taken its place?
As it ends up, Netflix’s The Witcher has taken the top spot for the week of December 24, with demand at 72.8 times that of a normal show. Before that, The Witcher was in the number spot, and Amazon’s The Wheel of Time was holding onto its first place seat for three weeks running. But in the new chart, The Wheel of Time is bumped to number two, with 46 times the demand of the average series.
The Witcher, The Wheel of Time and Hawkeye are in demand
Check out the new rankings below:
- The Witcher
- The Wheel of Time
- Hawkeye
- The Mandalorian
- Titans
- Marvel’s Daredevil
- Cobra Kai
- Arcane
- Stranger Things
- Ted Lasso
It’s interesting to see which shows are hanging around the chart despite not currently being in season, a sign that they have longevity. And good to see Marvel’s Daredevil get back on the chart, no doubt due to the return of Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk in the Hawkeye finale.
This is also a great sign for The Witcher! Hopefully we’ll get to see season 3 in 2022 rather than have to wait another two years.
