Disney loves nostalgia. 2015 The Force Awakens was basically a remake of the original Star Wars movie with a new cast, and the second season of The Mandalorian ended with a cameo by none other than Mark Hamill, returning to play Luke Skywalker with the aid of de-aging technology.
And now, it may be doing something similar with The Book of Boba Fett, the new Star Wars spinoff series that tracks what happened with the titular character after he fell into the Sarlacc Pit in 1983’s Return of the Jedi. Like The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett takes place after the end of the original Star Wars trilogy before the sequel trilogy, so there are plenty of OG SW characters still hanging around…
Okay, that’s enough teasing. Who is rumored to show up in The Book of Boba Fett? Scroll down for SPOILERS…
Harrison Ford may appear as Han Solo in The Book of Boba Fett
According to The Sun, none other than Harrison Ford filmed a cameo for the new Star Wars series. Reportedly, he took three days from shooting the upcoming Indiana Jones 5 to once again appear as his other famous genre character from the ’70s and ’80s.
So is this actually happening? Well, we don’t know, but I wouldn’t be surprised. Narratively, it makes sense to include Han Solo in a story about Boba Fett, since the two characters have a history; remember that it was Boba who captured Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back and froze him in a block of carbonite. He then was displayed in Jabba’s Palace, which Boba Fett has now taken over. I’m sure they could come up with a reason why Han might want to visit. And given Disney penchant for nostalgia-baiting, it wouldn’t need to be very strong.
The only hurdle I can see is that Harrison Ford may not want to bother, but they convinced him to show up in The Force Awakens and The Rise of Skywalker, so why not here?
Reportedly, the cameo will be in the finale of the show, which is a few weeks out. The Book of Boba Fett airs new episodes on Wednesdays on Disney+.
