Another year, another procession of superhero movies and TV shows for us to enjoy. One of the biggest coming up in 2022 is the third season of The Boys, the Amazon Prime Video series that asks “What would happen if superheroes were real?” and answers, “It would be terrible.”

The Boys really picked up steam with its second season in 2020, so the new episodes are hotly anticipated. Showrunner Eric Kripke is out there at the head of the hype train, telling The Illuninerdi that the sociopathic Homelander could take out Superman in a head-to-head rumble:

"I mean it’s definitely Homelander because Superman has morals and Homelander is like a hardcore sociopath. So, it’s like Homelander has no problem ripping off Superman’s testicles, like zero. And Superman’s gonna be like punching above the belt. So, it’s kind of not a contest."

If you’ve seen The Boys, you know that testicle-ripping isn’t outside the realm of possibility for these people. Homelander especially is a sick puppy; he may share a lot of Superman’s powers — super strength, flight, laser eyes, etc. — but he couldn’t care less about playing fair or helping people.

Watch the new trailer for Peacemaker on HBO Max

We still don’t know when The Boys season 3 will come out, but if what you’re looking for it a violent, profane show that subverts the superhero genre, you may also want to check out Peacemaker, which is kind of what a Captain America series would be like if cap were a jingoistic narcissist.

HBO Max dropped a new trailer for Peacemaker, which stars John Cena in the title role. Watch it below:

Hey, they mentioned Wonder Woman! You think Gal Gadot will have a cameo in the show?

Anyway, Peacemaker premieres on HBO Max on January 13.
