The final episodes of Attack on Titan start airing today! The show’s epic battle music fits very neatly onto scenes from Game of Thrones.
Today marks the premiere of the final batch of episodes of Attack on Titan, the anime where ordinary people with rocket-propelled backpacks take on glassy eyed, deeply unsettling giants who want nothing but to swallow human beings whole. (And then some of those people can turn into giants themselves; it gets complicated.) The anime has been running for almost a decade and amassed a lot of hype ahead of this final stretch.
To celebrate, enjoy THIS FAN EDIT of clips from the Game of Thrones episode “The Long Night,” the episode where the forces of the living took on the armies of the dead, artfully edited together and overlaid with music from Attack on Titan.
That’s some stirring stuff! And if any foes on Game of Thrones resembled the elemental giants from Attack on Titans, it was the White Walkers.
That said, Attack on Titan also has quite a bit of politicking involved, also like Game of Thrones. And in this final stretch, the main hero of the piece — Eren Yeager — is going fully to the dark side and enacting a genocide. Sound familiar?
You can watch Game of Thrones on HBO Max. Attack on Titan is available on Hulu, Funimation and Crunchyroll.
