Game of Thrones alum is playing Thomas Wayne in The Batman

Remember Arthur Dayne from Game of Thrones? We only met him once, but he made an impression. A member of the Kingsguard under King Aerys Targaryen, he was known as the greatest swordsman in the history of Westeros, and Bran saw him fight a bunch of guys — including a young Ned Stark — when the Three-Eyed Raven took him back in time to witness the battle at the Tower of Joy, where Jon Snow was born. Arthur Dayne was the one duel-wielding blades:

Arthur Dayne was played by actor Luke Roberts, who apparently has scored a pretty high profile gig: Thomas Wayne — father of Bruce — in the upcoming movie The Batman.

Now, to be completely fair, this isn’t confirmed by Warner Bros., but I’ll present the evidence and you can decide for yourself what to believe. As detailed by We Got This Covered, back in 2020 Roberts posted an image of himself reading a comic book as “last minute character research.” He says that he can’t name the character because he signed an NDA, but internet sleuths have since identified the comic he’s reading as “Sins of the Father,” which involves Thomas Wayne.

Is this ironclad evidence that Roberts is definitely playing Batman’s dead? No. Is it good enough for us? Eh, sure. He’s doing “character research” by reading a comic about Thomas Wayne around the time they were shooting The Batman, and he signed an NDA — usually something he would only have to sign on a higher profile project — to make sure he wouldn’t blab. Works for me.

The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, and it looks like the story will pick up long after Thomas and Martha Wayne famously die and set Bruce on his path of nocturnal vengeance. Perhaps we’ll get a flashback to the Wayne murders? It seems like every other Batman movie has one.
