2022 is barely out of the gate and it already feels like we’re drowning in quality TV. Eh, we can’t complain too much. One of HBO’s next big swings is Our Flag Means Death, a period comedy that’s loosely based (and I do mean loosely) on the life of Stede Bonnet, an eighteenth century aristocrat who left his life of luxury to sail the high seas as a pirate.

The show comes from Taika Waititi, the guy behind such bangers as Thor: Ranganok and What We Do In The Shadows, so there’s reason to be excited. Also, Game of Thrones veteran Kristian Nairn — who we all remember as our dear departed Hodor — stars as Wee John Feeney, one of Bonnet’s crew.

Our Flag Means Death premieres sometime in March.

Watch the trailer for The Cuphead Show on Netflix

As long as we’re talking trailers, Netflix just dropped one for The Cuphead Show, based on Cuphead, the most beautifully animated headache of a video game you will ever play. Check it out!

Cuphead the video game gained plaudits for its beautiful animation, which was based on 1930s cartoons. The show carries on in that tradition, with the added benefit that you can watch it without wanting to threw your controller through the TV.

The Cuphead Show drops on February 18.

Also premiering on February 18 is Severance, a new sci-fi show starring Adam Scott as Mark, a cog in a corporate machine who elects…freely…to undergo a procedure whereby he severs his work memories from his home memories. That’s dystopian enough to start with, but it soon becomes clear that the company is severing the memories of Mark and of his colleagues to keep them from uncovering a sinister conspiracy.

And that’s just the start of what 2022 has to offer:
