Another day, another new release date announcement! This time around, it’s The Boys Presents: Diabolical, the animated spinoff of Prime Video’s gory and darkly funny superhero show The BoysDiabolical premieres on March 4, and looks like it has the same twisted DNA as the mothership series. Here’s the first clip, featuring a certain baby with laser-eye powers who should be familiar to fans of the series. Or is it a different baby with laser-eye powers? You never know with Vought.

Yup, in classic The Boys style, this baby lasers off the heads of a whole crew of Vought soldiers seemingly on accident, then gets distracted and chases a balloon, all while a harried scientist slips into the pile of gore. It’s almost jarring to see such a Wile E. Coyote tone given the piles of bloody eviscerated remains…but then, that feels like exactly the sort of thing The Boys would do.

Diabolical is an eight-part anthology series; each episode has a different creator and art style behind it. According to Amazon, these will be 12-14 minute “fun-size episodes,” which sounds both like a good time and cause to be nervous. This is The Boys we’re talking about, and we all know what its definition of “fun” is by now.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke is attached to the animated spinoff and has rounded up an impressive bunch of creatives to bring the series to life, including Garth Ennis (co-creator of The Boys comic with Darick Robertson), Eliot Glazer and Ilana Glazer (co-creators of Broad City), Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen (executive producers of The Boys), Simon Racioppa (Invincible), Awkwafina (Nora From Queens), Justin Roiland (Rick and Morty), Ben Bayouth (Blark and Son), Andy Samberg (Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Aisha Tyler (Archer).

The Boys season 3 is “even more messed up” than previous seasons

Speaking of The Boys, TheWrap caught up with star Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell) while he was out promoting his new movie Scream, and of course they had to sneak in a few questions about the Amazon superhero show. What does Jack Quaid think of The Boys season 3?

“I think this season is our best yet. I’m very biased obviously, but it’s a season that’s even more messed up than the ones we’ve done so far,” Quaid said. “There’s a lot of those signature messed up Boys moments.”

Considering all the messed up moments that have happened in The Boys so far, from laser-eye powers turning people into bloody pulp to someone literally getting their head crushed in during oral sex…we can only imagine what the show has in store this time around.

Quaid went on to talk a bit about what it was like working on this upcoming season.

"I think we tackle a lot of new territory. I think you see our characters in places that you’ve never really seen them before. I’m just so excited for people to see it. That’s going to be awesome. I don’t know. I don’t know what else to say besides, I think I had the most fun shooting this season compared to the others because all of the actors now, and the crew, we’re just this big, huge family It just feels like second nature at this point and I love it. But I’m really proud of what we did and I can’t wait for people to see it."

The Boys season 3 will feature new characters like Soldier Boy, played by Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles:

The Boys Presents: Diabolical premieres March 4 on Prime Video, while The Boys mothership show launches its third season on June 3. Another live-action spinoff is also in the works, about a Vought superhero college, but there’s been no word on when that one’s coming yet.
