Religious viewpoints will “cause conflict” in Outlander season 6
By Ariba Bhuvad
It’s been two years since we’ve seen a new episode of Outlander, meaning we’re going through the longest Droughtlander to date. It’s been a rough wait, but we are almost there. T-minus 1.5 months, folks!
The upcoming sixth season of Outlander is adapted from Diana Gabaldon’s A Breath of Snow and Ashes. The story will pick up as Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) recovers from the horrendous assault she endured in the season 5 finale.
And that’s in addition to American Revolutionary War arriving at the doorstep of Fraser’s Ridge. Jamie (Sam Heughan) will find himself torn between the country he’s made his home and the loyalty he’s pledged to the British crown. And these aren’t the only conflicts the family will face.
Outlander season 6 trailer
On Christmas Day, Outlander released a scene from season 6 that shows Claire and Jamie discussing the newest arrivals on Fraser’s Ridge: the Christie family. Tom Christie (Mark Lewis Jones), the patriarch of the family, knew Jamie from his days at Ardsmuir Prison. Those are not fond memories for Jamie, so having Tom around could reopen some old wounds.
We can’t fault Jamie for being a bit nervous about Tom’s arrival. In an excerpt from TV Guide Magazine’s 2022 Preview issue, executive producer Maril Davis explained: “Their different religious viewpoints cause conflict.” That sort of conflict isn’t going to help when there is already so much going on.
Fans of Outlander are in for a very emotional ride in season 6, and considering that it is a shortened season, it’s going to be a lot to take in very fast. Luckily, we all have each other to lean on.
Outlander season 6 premieres on Starz on Sunday, March 6 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
